Is This the Right Class for You?

PLBiology 190 is a 1-semester introduction to human anatomy and physiology, designed to meet the needs of students requiring a basic background in order to pursue technical fields - but it is NOT enough for some programs. MAKE SURE you are taking the right class! Bio. 190 is designed for:

LVN (Licensed Vocational Nursing)
EMT / Paramedic
Tech programs (such as Radiation Tech, Cardiovascular Tech, Respiratory Tech, Medical Assistant, etc.)
Dental Assistant

PLEASE NOTE: You CANNOT use Bio 190 as a pre-requisite for the Bio 260/261 sequence.

Bio. 190 is NOT sufficient for programs requiring a more in-depth study of the structure and function of the human body. Sample programs requiring the 1-year sequence Biology 260 and 261 (which also have pre-requisites) include:

ADN (Associate Degree Registered Nursing)
RN (Registered Nurse)
Dental Hygiene
Surgical Tech
P.A. / N.P. (Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner)
BSN (Bachelor's of Science in Nursing)
Most Physical Therapy programs
